Poppies

Cliffe Castle in Keighley has a little enclosed meadow area. When I was there last month it was covered in poppies - glorious!

Those great big, in your face poppies are hard to miss but no less beautiful are the little poppies that are often to be found gracing our corn fields. The next few were taken at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park.

You really can't beat a good field of poppies. Thanks for sharing those lovely pictures. We have orange poppies in California, and they are not quite the same.

Every time I see poppies I can't help wondering where the Afghan farmers are hiding.

Shundo, poppies seem to come in all sorts of shades but for the proper effect, you can't beat red.

Chip, they're industrious folk those Yorkshire men - if the Afgan farmers are having a little trouble getting supply to meet demand, I'm sure on will step in to fill the gap.

As you know Sandy I just love poppies, and I especially love the wild poppies that grow in the fields. Your last photo is just perfect in my eyes, I could stare at it all day long...:):)

So lovely to see them with their companions of old, like grains, corncockle, marguerites and cornflowers. I ahven't done so for decades, sadly enough.

Thank you all for your comments - poppies seem to make great pictures where ever you see them - big or small.

Just back from work so a good bit of catching up to do.
